Cove Catering and Leisure, W-s-M
Heath Hardy director of Cove Catering and Leisure moved to Weston to operate the land train on Weston seafront. Before moving he worked for his grandfather on Bognor seafront running boat trips and other seafront attractions.
After running the land train, Heath took on the Cove Cafe at Anchor Head, which he is still running to this day offering paninis, sandwiches, cream teas etc. It is very popular with the local residents of Weston.
When the opportunity arose to take on the lease of the old Rozel bandstand, Heath saw what potential it had for a great seafood restaurant. Many years at the cafe told him that people were willing to travel (from the local area and beyond) for somewhere good to eat.
After a long and costly refurbishment The Cove opened to the public. Within four weeks it had fantastic reviews from national papers and had caused quite a stir due to its offer of fine seafood combined with a great location.
Eighteen months after opening The Cove was awarded a recommendation by Michelin guide. Numerous customers comment on the amazing location. They can not believe that there are views like this in North Somerset, and compare it to sitting in a bar on the Mediterranean!
The Cove has built up a loyal customer base of locals from Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding area, as well as visitors and business travellers from as far as London. They even have one gentleman who travels from Wales every weekend, calling it the best restaurant he’s been to (and he’s been to many across the world!) which is testament to what The Cove has to offer.
They are also mentioned in the Which Good Food Guide and have an entry in the AA Restaurant Guide as a result of being awarded the prestigious AA rosette.
The accolade is given to restaurants by the British Automobile Association for the quality and service of food, which demonstrate mastery and excellence in their field.
